ESSKA Congress Awards
The deadline for entries has expired and the platform is now closed

Several awards will be given during the next ESSKA Congress in Glasgow/UK, in 2018 and there are three categories

  • KSSTA/JEO Awards 2018
  • ESSKA Abstract Awards 2018

ESSKA Special Awards 2018

Applications for the ESSKA Special Awards in Glasgow 2018 are only accepted using the method below. Please complete the form by entering your contact details and uploading the abstract-file or video. The deadline for submissions is 15 December 2017 (midnight CET). A jury will review and select the award winners by the end of February 2018.

Alwin Jäger Best Video Award

This award will be given for the best submitted video about technical procedures. The video should include spoken comments. A short abstract (about 250 words) should be submitted along with the video (max file size 30MB, max duration of 5 minutes, format for example *.wmv, *.mpg, *.avi)

A jury will review all submitted videos. Selected videos will be shown on the video/e-poster terminals during the congress.

Criteria: Must be an ESSKA member

Award money: EUR 2,500

Porto Award for Innovation in Arthroscopy

This Award is given to stimulate research in arthroscopy and encourage practitioners to publicise their expertise. It recognises the excellence and innovation in arthroscopy.

Criteria: Open to anyone

Award money: EUR 2,000

Award for Best Paper in Ligament and Biomechanics

This award is given to the best paper about ligament healing and biomechanics in orthopaedic sports medicine.
This award will be given to the recipient‘s institution to be used for the research or education in this field. S&N has no influence on determining the winning recipient(s).

Young Researcher Award in Clinical Science

This award is given to the best paper about Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology or Arthroscopy. Entrants must be under 40 years of age before submission.

KSSTA/JEO Awards 2018

JEO Young Researcher Award in Basic Science

This award is given to an author who has published in JEO during the two years prior to the Congress, is under 40 years at the time of publication and will attend the Congress. The author may apply directly, or be nominated by someone else.

Criteria: Open to anyone

Award: EUR 1,500 & one full article publication charge waiver

KSSTA Best Paper Award

This award is given for the best paper published in the KSSTA Journal during the two years prior to the Congress. The winner will be selected by the editors of the KSSTA journal.

No application is necessary

Award money: 1,000 EUR

 

 



JEO Best Paper Award

This award is given to an author who has published in JEO during the two years prior to the Congress. A jury of Editorial Board members will shortlist and select the winner using an independent scoring system.

No application is necessary

Award money: 500 EUR

 

 



KSSTA Best Reviewer Award

The Editor-in-Chief will select the winner(s) based on the number and quality of reviews performed, response to invitation and submission efficiency.

JEO Best Reviewer Award

The Editor-in-Chief will select the winner(s) based on the number and quality of reviews performed, response to invitation and submission efficiency.

ESSKA Abstract Awards 2018

The deadline for submission of abstracts has expired and the platform is now closed.

Applications for the ESSKA Abstract Awards in Glasgow 2018 can be made through our Congress Website.

ESSKA is proud to give the following awards to those who make significant contributions to research in degenerative joint diseases and orthopaedic sports medicine. When submitting an abstract before 1 October 2017 your submission will automatically participate in the following awards selection. These Awards are sponsored by the ESSKA Foundation.


Theo Van Rens Best Paper Award

The Award is given for the best scientific presentation amongst the six highest ranked abstracts from the review process.

Award money: 3,000 EUR and additionally, the winning paper will be published in KSSTA

Best Poster Award

This award is given to the best posters accepted and displayed at the Congress. The 10 categories are: Ankle, Knee Degenerative, Knee ACL, Knee meniscus, Knee PCL/MCL/LCL, Hip/Groin, Muscle/Tendon, Shoulder, Elbow/wrist, Cartilage, Basic science.

Award money: 250 EUR each in 10 different categories

Basic Scientist Travel Grants

ESSKA supports Basic Scientists and provides financial support for four selected Basic Scientists enabling them to attend the 18th ESSKA Congress. Selection will be made by the Basic Science Committee of ESSKA based on the excellence of the basic science abstracts.

Award money: 500 EUR to cover travel and accommodation expenses to attend the Congress
