It will enable researchers to spend three months in one of ESSKA-AFAS’s affiliated surgical centres.

Purposes of the fellowship:

• To expand knowledge of Foot and Ankle surgery and research. The chosen Fellows will have intimate access to the Centres’ expertise, and will work alongside acknowledged leaders in the field.

It must include a short introduction to the topic, study purpose, main study question(s), hypothesis, material and methods, and a realistic time-frame.

The study plan, accompanied by a CV and a minimum of two references, must be part of your application.
All related topics are admissible for application, including epidemiology, basic science (morphologic, biology or biomechanics), surgical or conservative treatment. For information on the research lines of the affiliated centres please contact the centres directly. Preferably the application should be tailored for, and supported by, one of the affiliated centres, although it could also be a general application (not specifically directed to one of the centres). The ESSKA-AFAS Board will attempt an even distribution of candidates to the involved centres.

Selection procedure:

The ESSKA-AFAS Fellowship Committee will examine all submissions, and the final decision will be made by a jury comprising programme directors from the three centres, and a fourth member allocated by the ESSKA-AFAS Board.  Those candidates who are selected may receive a revised version of their study plan, which they must acknowledge within two weeks.
